The History Of Roberta Schilling And The Furniture They Design

roberta-schilling

Roberta Schilling is the artisan behind many of the most fashionable and glamorous furnishings items today. Her furniture line, RS, has been featured in mainstream magazines such as Good Housekeeping (HGTV), W Magazine, Life & Style Weekly, NY Times, and NY Post.

Pioneering a unique perspective in design has made her brand one of the best-selling luxury brands today.  The RS collection offers an array of home furnishings, from sideboards and seating to tables and accessories. Designer’s Mark is proud to offer her esteemed collection of home accessories, outdoor furniture, and accessories to the Florida market.

Early Life

Roberta Schilling was born in Brazil in 1971. As a girl, she worked closely with her mother to find, stock, and sell items for her mother’s renowned home accessory and live flower shop. Schilling credits this experience as the foundation for her love of luxury design and furniture.

She later attended college in Florida, where she saw an impeccable opportunity to bring her love of Brazil, design, and culture to the United States. Schilling’s creative genius was ignited and fueled by searching for merchandise and antiques for her mother at U.S.-based tradeshows.

In 1995, at just 24, Roberta Schilling launched what would later become the premiere Brazilian furniture distributor company. Her furniture designs blended recycled South American hardwood with eclectic antique touches–an ode to her country and her Brazilian people, which she calls fun and colorful.

In 2006 she launched Moderna, which featured sleek lines and statement shapes combining lacquer, leather, metal, and exotic wood. Pieces from the Moderna collection stand in contrast to the hand-painted, rolling curves of Schilling’s earlier pieces. Combining her trend-setting style of culture-rich designs with sleek Moderna pieces creates the perfect portrait of eclectic and elegant.

Today, Roberta Schilling’s collections are one of the most recognizable names in luxury design and furniture. An interior design stylist can guide you through choosing and coordinating the pieces of this collection that complete your home.

The Roberta Schilling Collection

Roberta Schilling’s style is luxury with a purpose. Leaning into the curves, she creates pieces that are soft yet powerful. The RS Collection is filled with unique pieces like the Edro Floor Lamp TS, which offers a blend of classic, twisted solid Brazilian wood and geometric angles for an Art Deco-inspired aesthetic.

Roberta Schilling’s work has been influential over the years, and her posh designs can be used for modern interior design. RS offers sculpted art, decorative objects, barware, glass, and wall art.

The team at RS not only crafts one-of-a-kind designs but still pay homage to their Brazilian roots. Schilling collaborates with local Brazilian artists and artisans to ensure her designs give back to her community while providing the same lavish feel.

Warm tropical tones, typical of South Floridian and Brazilian landscapes, are showcased in RS designs. Deep shades of a blooming sunset over the turquoise water are complimented with lavish leafy greens, tropical yellows, and red.

Perhaps the most innovative aspect of RS designs is each piece is fully customizable and designed to meet your aesthetic. The ability to choose between different woods, lacquers, glass, and materials generates one of the most versatile yet elegant collections on the market.
