Thayer Coggin (TC) is an American Southern design house of bespoke furnishings and interiors. TC was established in 1953 in High Point, North Carolina, where the company and manufacturing remain today. Known for its iconic American mid-century modern furniture design, TC evokes classic modernism. Each TC piece is fabricated and made-to-order from sketch to finished art piece.

A featured Designer’s Spotlight, TC is innovative, adorned in mid-century design and craftsmanship. Many original TC designs are works of Director Milo Baughman (1953-2008); and remain highly sought-after by collectors of modern furniture and interior designers alike.

Sofa Seating

The Baughman-designed Button Up Sofa is a classic standard for any enthusiast of mid-century modern furniture. Luxurious cushioning atop a kiln-dried maple frame, a hardwood sourced in the North and Southeastern U.S. Originally created by Baughman in 1959, the Button Up cultivates a comfortable and modern statement piece. Designed by Ransom Culler, the Blade Sofa, notes a sleek leg base that gives the illusion of the sofa floating in space.

Also designed by Ransom Culler is the modern classic the Clip Sofa. A solid wood base and legs enhanced by geometric-form clips that frame the backside. Generous luxe poly down blend seating and two sets of seating cushions come included. It’s recommended to place the Clip Sofa in an open living space for a 360-degree view of its unique design and silhouette.

Motion Seating

TC lounge swivel seating design has been a favorite of designers and modern furniture collectors for years, beginning in 1965 with the Baughman-designed Giant Swivel Tub Chair. Based on this prototype, TC expanded into new designs of motion seating like the Jo Swivel Chair and the curved-back Tear Drop Swivel-Tilt. For luxurious reclining, TC also offers the Clarence Swivel Lounge.

The classic space-age modernism of the Good Egg comes from Baughman in 1967. Set atop a swivel base and constructed of a unique barrel shape, the Good Egg is a visual delight in proportion and design.

Ottomans & Table Ottomans

Each TC ottoman and table ottoman is bench-made in High Point with custom upholstery. Clients can choose from an impeccable selection of custom fabrics and wood finishes for select models. Designed by Ransom Culler is the Blade Collection. Its support comes from slender reticulated legs; giving the illusion that the piece suspends in air. Blade ottoman seating comes generously filled with poly-blend down.

The Slice Square Ottoman is versatile to mix and match with other TC sofas and sectionals. It’s also a perfect table ottoman for an afternoon coffee or tea. The Slice includes a maple wood serving tray available in oval, large or small round, available in any TC wood finish except double espresso.

Dining

In 1971, the original 1187 Design Classic Dining Chair was introduced. The iconic Baughman-designed piece appears to float atop its sleek geometric frame. The Design Classic Dining Chair is custom; upholstered in a variety of fabrics and leather. The frame is available in polished stainless steel or brushed bronze finishes, with armrests or without.

From the TC barstool seating category, the clean minimalism of the Wink is a best seller. The Wink comes upholstered in any TC custom fabric or leather. The stainless-steel frame comes polished in black, white, or gray metal finish.
