Lovers of modern and contemporary furniture need look no further than the Italian brilliance of Bracci Furniture. Industry leaders when it comes to style and craftsmanship, Bracci specializes in luxury leather furniture that fits into any lifestyle and design vision.
All About Bracci
Bracci’s state-of-the-art factory is based in southern Italy. Their talented designers come together to curate their ideas and inspirations to design and produce premier leather sofas, sectionals, chairs, and more.
While Bracci’s materials and manufacturing processes flow from deep Italian roots, their design priorities are set by the preferences of the North American market. Their designers and artisans construct each piece of luxury furniture with the ideal seat height, seat softness, foam density, and seat pitch according to the average North American needs.
Materials and Manufacturing Process
Bracci specializes in producing luxury leather furniture that fits the modern contemporary design space. They use eco-friendly hides from European and South American farms, which they then tan in sunny Italy. The leather ranges in thickness from 1.2mm to 2.0mm. Every leather piece is stitched together using a “Tuscany stitch” to ensure hardiness and longevity.
Bracci artisans handcut each piece of leather individually, using ancient leather-working techniques that can’t be replicated with even the most advanced machines.
Leathers
Leather is a timeless fabric that strikes the perfect balance between style and functionality. It’s warm in the cooler months and cool in the heat of summer, and many leather finishes are designed to be easy to clean.
Leathers come in different protection levels, which describe the unique blend of softness and durability. The lower the protection level, the more luxuriously soft, and less durable, the leather will be.
Bracci produces three main types of leathers:
- High protected leathers go through a tanning process that creates a hardy pigmented layer on the surface of the leather that can withstand spills, stains, and fading. These leathers are easy to clean and work well in high-traffic areas and homes with kids or pets.
- Medium protected leathers are slightly embossed to add a layer of hardiness that can hold up to a reasonable amount of wear and tear. These leathers are the perfect middle ground for those looking for comfort and functionality, as they’re softer than high protected leathers, but more durable than low protected leathers.
- Low protected leathers, sometimes called aniline leathers, are the most delicate and prestigious leathers. Bracci leaves the surface untouched to maintain the soft-touch texture of the leather. Due to their soft nature, these leathers are not appropriate for use near food or drink, and they do better in homes without young children or pets.

Fabrics
Bracci’s expert knowledge doesn’t end with leather. They also produce top-quality textiles that are designed and woven in Como, Brianza. This area is renowned for its capacity to produce fine silks and other fabrics used by luxury fashion and interior design industries.

Stitch Types
The Bracci artisans have long-standing knowledge of different stitch patterns. These creative ways of joining pieces of leather and other fabrics, which are available in different thread colors and thicknesses, add a unique flair to each furniture piece.
Some of the stitching patterns are straightforward and subtle, while others are intricate and unique.
- Thin stitch is a straight line of small stitches made using narrow thread.
- Thick stitch is a straight line of medium stitches made using wider thread.
- Stitch type “A” has the stitches arranged in a zigzag pattern.
- Stitch type “B” is a straight line of stitches accented with horizontal stitches spaced apart evenly, set right along the seam.
- Stitch type “C” looks like two overlapping zigzag stitches that form small diamond shapes along the seam.
- Stitch type “D” looks like stacked square boxes that follow the seam.
- Stitch type “E” looks like two staggered zigzag stitches.
- Stitch type “F” is a set of angled horizontal stitches that look like the stripes on a candy cane, connected by a vertical line of stitches that follows the seam.
- Stitch type “G” consists of slanted horizontal stitches with short vertical accents at their end, creating the shape of a number seven.
- Stitch type “H” is similar to stitch type B, but has the vertical line of stitches placed next to the seam.
- Stitch type “I” is similar to stitch type F, but has the vertical line of stitches placed next to the seam.
